The Home Care Podiatrist provides essential foot care services to clients in their homes and community settings, supporting older adults and people with disability to maintain mobility, independence, and quality of life. The role includes routine foot care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail management, and preventative treatment, with a strong focus on aged care and NDIS clients. The podiatrist works independently to deliver safe, person-centred care in line with Australian clinical standards.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Home Care Podiatrist provides mobile podiatry services to clients in their homes, aged care settings, and community environments. The role focuses on preventative foot care, mobility support, and clinical management of foot-related conditions, particularly for elderly clients and individuals with complex health needs. This position plays a key role in reducing complications, improving comfort, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver comprehensive podiatry assessments in home and community settings
  • Provide routine foot care including nail care, corn and callus management
  • Manage ingrown toenails, skin conditions, and foot pain
  • Conduct diabetic foot assessments and risk screening
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans
  • Provide education to clients and carers on foot health and prevention
  • Work collaboratively with Care Service Managers and health professionals
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and clinical standards
  • Travel to client homes and manage an allocated caseload

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Bachelor of Podiatry (or equivalent qualification)
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills
  • Ability to work independently in community settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current police check and relevant screening clearances

Desirable

  • Experience in aged care, home care, or community podiatry
  • Experience with diabetic foot care and chronic condition management
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Experience working within culturally specific or multicultural community services
  • Knowledge of the Polish community and Polish language skills highly regarded
