We are looking for a friendly and reliable Café / Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Mount Waverley. The role involves assisting with food preparation, meal and beverage service, cleaning and general kitchen duties while providing a welcoming experience for our clients.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen environment, preparing and serving food, and interacting with older people and members of the Polish community.

About the role

As a Café / Kitchen Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of our kitchen and café, helping to ensure meals and refreshments are prepared and served to a high standard.

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting with food preparation and basic cooking
  • Preparing and serving meals, snacks, tea and coffee
  • Setting up and clearing tables
  • Washing dishes and maintaining clean kitchen equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen, café and food preparation areas
  • Assisting with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies
  • Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
  • Assisting with catering for meetings, activities and community events
  • Supporting the kitchen team with general duties as required
  • Providing friendly and respectful service to clients, visitors and staff

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, punctual and well organised
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Comfortable working as part of a team
  • Able to work in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Interested in food preparation and hospitality
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
  • Respectful and compassionate when working with older people
  • Physically able to perform general kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods
  • Previous café, kitchen, catering or hospitality experience is highly desirable, but we will consider applicants who have the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Polish language skills would be an advantage.
